Submission Guidelines

Help us grow our database by submitting your postcards. Its free and its easy! The following guidelines will help ensure that your submissions are successfully posted. Click on the link to your left if you wish to upload your postcard.

General Guidelines

1. We do not accept any postcards that are postmarked after 1940.

2. The postcard must contain both a message and the recipient's name & address.

3. The postmark must contain at least the year it was mailed and the city/town of origin.

4. The Postcard Sleuth reserves the right to reject postcards deemed to be offensive.

5. The Postcard Sleuth does not guarantee that any submission will appear in our database. Typical reasons for excluding a postcard include large chunks of illegible data or missing information (i.e. missing postmark date, missing recipient address, etc.)

Format

1. We welcome the submission of original postcards. Please remember that these become the property of the PostcardSleuth.com and will not be returned.

2. High quality photocopies (i.e. color reproductions) are acceptable.

3. Transcripts are not acceptable unless accompanied by the actual postcard. This is a safeguard against the submission of fradulant information.

 

On-line Submissions

You can also upload scans of your postcards. Please do not use this service if you have a large quantiy of postcards that total 10 or more items. In order to gain access to this service you must register with the postcardsleuth.com. Your registration information is kept confidential and we never divulge it to third parties other than genealogists who may share the same ancestor (with your approval of course).
